WHEN the break-time bell rings these children can't wait to get out into the playground.
The pupils of St Anne's Primary school in Calton are the first to earn one of Glasgow City Council's Buddy Fit Award for a successful programme aimed at helping to get them more active at break-time.
Sammy Joe Mckee, Chantel Aitkenhead, Joe Corrigan, Bailey Clarke and Zoe Ferrie, all aged 10, inset, were on hand to collect the award for the school's achievement.
Games of tag and skipping are just some of the activities which are being encouraged in the playground by the school's 24 young 'Activ8ors.'
They have also been trained to solve problems in the playground and work as part of a team.
Around 90% of Glasgow primary schools have signed up to the scheme and more than a thousand Buddies have been trained to pass on their skills to others.
